Meet The Team

Learn more about this year's California Grizzlies team consisting of accomplished and hardworking juniors.

1st Year Grizzly | Marksman

Anna Liang

Anna joins the team this year and is a member of the San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club. At Nationals in 2025, she received an award for High Marksman three-day aggregate KTS matches and received 4 EIC points coming in 2nd against 251 competitors.

Hometown: Sunnyvale

Amy Li

Amy joins the team this year with prior experience shooting a .22. She is a member of the San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club and is a Sea Cadet.

Hometown: Pleasanton

David joins the team this year and is a member of the San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club.

Annabelle joins the team this year and is a member of the San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club.

2nd Year Grizzly | Marksman

Natalie Gannavaram

Natalie will join Notre Dame High School’s sophomore class in the fall. She plays tennis, sings in the choir, and takes part in speech and debate. In her free time she likes to play piano, hang out with her friends and two cats, and shoot at San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club. At National Matches in 2005, she was in the top 6 juniors for the Col. Bill Deneke Trophy, placed #52 on the President's 100 list and placed 3rd in pairs with Bo Kingshill.

2nd Year Grizzly | Marksman

Audrey Yang

Audrey is attending school in Cupertino. She is a well rounded student, who not only gets good grades, but is also involved in the school leadership program that helps organize many school events. She is a golfer, artist, and a baker. In her spare time, other than shooting, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and baking treats for friends and family. She also loves skiing, windsurfing and sailing.

2nd Year Grizzly | Marksman

Ziani Gokani

Ziani lives in Santa Clara and is a sophomore in High School. She has a 4.0 GPA and is part of her school's extracurricular hiking club. She also does jujitsu. She started shooting 22 rim fire at the San Jose range with the Zouaves and then moved up to high power. Ziani enjoys playing guitar and piano in her free time, as well as doing whittling/wood carving, crochet, drawing, and playing with her dog Happy.

2rd  Year Grizzly | Expert

Thomas Rhay

Thomas graduated  Linfield Christian High School this year.  He is a two-sport varsity athlete competing in both Football and Track and Field and a member of the principal’s honor roll.   Thomas enjoys shooting at the Rainbow Shooting Club and also competes in USPSA, IPSIC and other local pistol matches.  At Nationals 2025, he received an award for top junior in the expert classification. Thomas will be attending Maine Maritime Academy Fall of 2026.

4th Year Grizzly | Expert

Brady Alford

Brady is  attending Marin Catholics with a focus on doing well on his academics. He competes at Richmond Rod and Gun Club and looks forward to attending Nationals at Camp Perry in July for his first time. In addition to being on the Grizzlies team, Brady plays football, is a Boy Scout, and enjoys fishing and hunting in the outdoors.

4th Year Grizzly | Expert

Andrew Brital

Andrew is an 8th grader attending Korematsu Middle School. He gets great grades and shoots at Richmond Rod and Gun Club and looks forward to going to Nationals at Camp Perry in July this year. He enjoys shooting, mountain biking, hiking, and playing video games.

5th Year Grizzly | Master | Nationally Distinguished 2024

Bo Kingshill

Bo attends Hogan Middle School. He loves to go to school and gets good grades. His favorite classes are History and Robotics.  He is part of a local wrestling team. He loves to mountain bike, hike and fly fish . Bo shoots service rifle and long range (PALMA). He has been shooting for several years as his family all shoots including his sister Amber, who was part of the Grizzly team.

5th Year Grizzly | Master | Nationally Distinguished 2024

Alec Brital

Alec graduated El Cerrito High and works for the Federal Fire Management Agency. He regularly competes at the Richmond Rod & Gun Club. At National matches, he's received a Freedom Fire Medal in the Junior Team Match in 2023. In addition to being a car enthusiast, Alec enjoys mountain biking, listening to music, and shooting a .22. April 7th, 2024 Alec became first place winning the EIC match and became Nationally Distinguished. At National Matches, Alec continued as team captain.

Lane Ichord

Retired Army. Nationally Distinguished High Master. 7 years on prestigious U.S. Army Marksman Unit (AMU). Former Grizzly of 4 years. While on the Grizzlies and AMU teams, Lane has won numerous awards which includes the Presidents 100.

Jim O'Connell

Retired Marine. 

Nationally Distinguished High Master. Coalinga, Richmond and Sacramento Valley are his main rifle ranges. He has hosted 'Camp O'Connell' for the California Junior Rifle Team in Coalinga the past 13 years. Jim is one of our main coaches at the National Matches. Jim awards are too numerous to mention.
