During the weekend of April 6th and 7th, the Grizzlies team traveled to Coalinga to partake in the Western States Service Rifle Championship program. Saturday featured an 80-round course, while Sunday hosted an EIC match. Competitors from California and Oregon, including adult service rifle shooters, gathered for the event.
Among the 9 Grizzlies participants, Junior Grizzly Alec Brital emerged victorious on Saturday, clinching the top spot. His winning streak continued on Sunday as he secured first place for non-distinguished and legged out, culminating in a remarkable achievement.
On April 7th, 2024, Alec Brital's exceptional performance in the EIC match earned him the prestigious title of Nationally Distinguished. In a heartwarming gesture, Bob Gill passed on his distinguished pin, received from Robert Taylor, to Alec, symbolizing the passing of the torch and celebrating Alec's remarkable accomplishment. Distinguished Badges are the highest individual awards authorized by the U. S. Government for excellence in marksmanship competition since 1884.
Grizzly Bo Kingshill achieved an impressive 3rd place finish, earning him the coveted 'leather' award. Additionally, other members of the Grizzlies team were also recognized for their outstanding performances across both days. Whether emerging victorious in their respective categories or placing within the top 3 positions in each match, the Grizzlies showcased their talent and dedication, garnering well-deserved accolades for their achievements.
