The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is revolutionizing competitive shooting by implementing full electronic target systems at the 2025 National Rifle Matches, scheduled for July 22 to August 3 at Camp Perry, Ohio. This marks a significant milestone after years of testing and refinement.
The advanced Kongsberg Target System (KTS) will be used across all highpower rifle matches, National Trophy competitions, and rifle Games events. These eTargets provide instant, highly accurate shot scoring on monitors at each firing point, eliminating the need for pit duty and significantly reducing match durations. Competitors will also benefit from the KTS Shooter’s Journal, which logs individual scores and shots for detailed performance tracking.
This shift reflects a growing trend among local clubs adopting electronic targets and aligns with competitor expectations for a modernized experience. CMP Highpower Manager Brian Williams emphasized that the system has been rigorously tested at CMP’s Talladega Marksmanship Park and other events, ensuring reliability and ease of use.
With this innovation, the CMP continues to enhance the competitive shooting experience, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology to meet the needs of today’s marksmen.
